Concession Trailers in San Diego, CA

Custom-built concession trailers, California HCD-certified and county-ready, delivered from our Sacramento yard down I-5 to San Diego.

Concession trailer for San Diego vendors

San Diego runs on outdoor food. From the boardwalks at Mission Beach to the Wednesday food-truck nights in Little Italy, this is a city where a well-built trailer earns its keep year-round. 916 Concession builds those trailers in Sacramento and brings them south to operators across San Diego County. Every unit leaves the yard carrying its California HCD insignia under Title 25 and a set of county-ready compliance blueprints drawn to match what San Diego reviewers expect to see. We handle the build, the state certification of the unit, and the DMV registration so the trailer shows up titled, plated, and ready for you to take through your county health permit. You bring the menu and the decisions. We carry the rest of the load down the freeway.

What we do for San Diego vendors

Built for the way San Diego sells food

The vending spots here are not all the same, and your trailer should not be either. A Barrio Logan operation working the arts-district crowd and a strong street-food culture needs a different layout than a unit chasing Padres game-day traffic outside Petco Park or holding down a slot at Food Truck Fridays in Balboa Park. Liberty Station, the Embarcadero waterfront, the Pacific Beach boardwalk, the Little Italy Mercato on Saturdays, each pulls its own crowd with its own rhythm. We build to the work you are actually going to do, not to a generic floor plan. Tell us where you plan to park and what you plan to serve, and we size the unit and the equipment lineup around that.

Two approvals, and who owns each one

There are two separate sign-offs, and it helps to know which is ours and which is yours. The HCD insignia is ours. That is the State of California, under Title 25, certifying the trailer itself as a manufactured unit, and we build to that standard and carry it through. The health permit is yours. In San Diego County that runs through the Department of Environmental Health and Quality, and the permit is the step you file and hold. What we do is hand you the county-ready compliance blueprints and the guidance to walk it through. We draw the plans; you carry the permit. That line stays clean so nobody is waiting on the wrong party.

Built around your menu

Equipment drives the build, so we start with your menu. A taco and birria setup wants its flat-top, refrigeration, and steam table laid out one way; a coffee and pastry trailer or a shaved-ice cart wants something else entirely. From there we spec the supporting systems: the three-compartment sink for warewashing, a separate handwash sink, a 100-amp panel sized for your load, and county-approved cleanable cladding on the interior surfaces. The 7x14 is our most-ordered shell because it fits a lot of single-operator concepts, but it is not the only size we build. We go custom in any dimension that suits your service and the spots you intend to work.

California titling and DMV, already handled

A trailer on the road needs to be titled and plated, and we take care of that part for San Diego buyers the same as everywhere in the state. California issues temporary tags first so the unit is legal to move, then mails the permanent plates afterward. We run the DMV registration on your behalf so you are not standing in a line for it. By the time the trailer reaches you, it is titled, tagged, and good to tow. One less office to visit while you are focused on getting your permit and your spot squared away.

Timeline and the long haul south

Plan on roughly a six-week custom build from the time the order is set, though the exact window flexes with inspection scheduling, since the state side has to line up. When the unit is finished, certified, and titled, our in-house transport team brings it to you. San Diego is the longest run we make, about 500 miles straight down I-5 from Sacramento and well over eight hours behind a trailer. It is the same dedicated crew we run with on every build, not a load-board hauler we found that week, so the unit arrives handled the whole way.

Around San Diego

San Diego gives a concession operator a long list of places to work. Balboa Park runs Food Truck Fridays on the Plaza de Panama from June through September. Little Italy gathers food trucks on Wednesdays and hosts the Saturday Mercato farmers market. Barrio Logan brings a Mexican-American arts district with deep street-food roots, while Liberty Station in Point Loma anchors an arts-and-dining scene. Game-day crowds spill out of the Gaslamp Quarter and Petco Park, and the Mission Beach and Pacific Beach boardwalks plus the Embarcadero waterfront keep steady foot traffic along the water.

Your local health department — for reference

County of San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality (DEHQ), Food & Housing Division

In San Diego County, mobile food facilities clear plan check through the Department of Environmental Health and Quality, Food and Housing Division, before a health permit is issued. DEHQ reviews new builds along with remodels of vending vehicles and carts, and the submitted plans need to carry the required health notes and certification statements reviewers look for. That plan-check step comes first, then the permit follows. 916 Concession builds the trailer and provides the county-ready compliance blueprints drawn to support that review; filing and holding the health permit is your step.

Typical lead time
Order placed about 6 weeks Built & on the road

Figure on about a six-week custom build, with the final timing tied to inspection scheduling on the state certification side. Once the unit is done and titled, our in-house transport team makes the delivery. San Diego is our longest haul, roughly 500 miles south down I-5 from the Sacramento yard, eight-plus hours of road and longer towing a finished trailer.
